Health Centers are non-profit, community-directed health care organizations that provide vulnerable populations with comprehensive primary care services, including oral health, behavioral health, pharmaceutical services, and enabling services. They are located in medically underserved areas; as a result, their patients are disproportionately low-income, uninsured, publicly insured, and minority. Currently, 1,200 health centers provide primary care to 20 million people, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
