America’s Community Health Centers Convene for a National Conference in Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C. – The 2010 Policy and Issues Forum, hosted by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), is scheduled to kick off this week. The 35rd annual national conference is the largest Washington gathering of federally supported Community Health Centers, which serve more than 20 million patients nationwide. The conference brings together thousands of health center leaders, opinion-makers, policy experts, clinicians and consumers to dialogue on access to affordable health care and the outlook for health care reform.
Speakers at the conference will include Ted Kennedy Jr., President/Co-Founder of Marwood Group & Co., and son of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy; H. Jack Geiger, MD, one of the founders of the Community Health Center Movement; Mary Wakefield, Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration – the agency within the Department of Health and Human Services that oversees the Federal Health Centers program.
Other conference highlights include a Congressional Awards Reception honoring Community Health Center champions at the Newseum on Thursday, February 25.
