Happy Valley Medical Center

Cleveland Co., N.C.

Stimulus funding will be used by Happy Valley Medical Center to increase access for the area's uninsured population with the ability to provide both diagnostic and preventive services. The health center enrolled 100 new uninsured patients in March 2009 -- a 300 percent increase over March 2008. There is a high uninsured population due largely to an unemployment rate of 17 percent. Major factory closures have meant 7,000 job losses in three years. This is a new start. -- Survey information provided by the health center
