President Biden and Secretary Becerra Address P&I

It was an honor to have President Joseph Biden kick off the opening session of NACHC’s 2022 Policy & Issues Forum,ย  our annual conference focused on policy and advocacy to support the Community Health Center movement. After such a challenging two years on the front lines of the pandemic, it was gratifying to hear the heartfelt words of recognition from the president: “When the story of this pandemic is finally written, you’re going to stand out among its heroes.”

HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra also made time to share his thoughts about the value of health centers with the Policy & Issues Forum audience and answer questions.ย

Health Center Advocates Talk Policy, Advocacy and Celebrate Achievements

Panel discussion featuring (clockwise) Rachel Gonzales-Hanson and Joe Dunn (NACHC); Jeff Caballero (AAPCHO), Eric Rodriguez (UnidosUS), Derrick Johnson (NAACP), and Valerie Nurrโ€™araaluk Davidson (Alaskan Native Tribal Health Consortium).

One of the unexpected bonuses of the annual P&I conference is giving health center advocates a bit of a strategy reset as they gather and connect, share greetings over the chat and reflect beyond the struggles of day.

The second day of P&I focused on prepping advocates in a Policy and Advocacy Prep Session headlined by former U.S. Representatives Joe Kennedy and Henry Bonilla (now with the Normandy Group, LLC.) We also spent the day honoring the recipients with theย 2022 NACHC Grassroots Advocacy Awards.ย ย Read the takeaways.
