Overview

This six-month program will engage health center board chairs in monthly meetings that foster connection, community, and growth in the role. Participants will share experiences, support one another, and explore common interests. Sessions will be facilitated by an experienced board leader and member of the NACHC Health Center Governance team. The estimated time commitment is approximately 9 hours (including optional office hours). Participants will also gain access to sample tools – such as a sample board workplan – to assist in their leadership of the board.

This program is a possible next step for alumni of NACHC’s Board Chair Leadership Program who could benefit from additional peer support. However, prior participation in a NACHC Board Chair training program is not a requirement to register.

Goals

  • Build a community between peer learning group members.
  • Provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to share perspectives and experiences.
  • Identify and address shared challenges and opportunities related to the board chair role.
  • Leverage the experiences of health center board leaders who have served in the same role.

Peer Learning Group Model

Peer Learning Groups will have between 10-12 members who will come together for a 75-minute monthly meeting that offers a combination of content discussion and facilitated peer learning and support. Focus areas will be developed in direct response to needs articulated by the members. There is no fixed “training curriculum” to deliver; rather, the purpose of content discussions will be to provide information and insights to meet the needs of group members as they carry out their role as a health center board chair.

Supplemental Office Hours

Each cohort group will hold two (2) 45-minute “Office Hours” during the 6-month program. While the monthly 75-minute Peer Learning Group meetings are designed for group discussion and peer learning, the optional Office Hours are where the experienced board chair and governance subject matter expert can offer their personal expertise more directly, serving as a mentor rather than a guide.

Requirements

Registrants must be a current Health Center Board Chair.

Pricing and Registration

Registration closes on Friday, January 9, 2026 or when the program reaches capacity. NACHC Members receive a 50% discount off the full program price:

  • Member rate: $675
  • Non-member rate: $1,350

Prices reflect the registration rate for an individual.

Register now to receive a complimentary copy of the Health Center Board Orientation Toolkit and the forthcoming CEO Succession Planning Toolkit after the Peer Learning Groups begin (valued at $398 for members/$796 non-members).

During the registration process, participants will be asked to attest that they meet the requirement of being a Health Center Board Chair and answer a few questions about items they would like to address in their Peer Group.

Other Important Information

Please note:

  • Please note that given the program design, a recording of the training will not be made available for viewing
  • Peer Learning Groups will be conducted in English
  • The groups will meet via Zoom
  • If an individual registers for this course and does not meet the requirements of the target participant (current board chair), NACHC reserves the right to cancel the registration and refund the participant’s registration fee
