True innovation requires a confluence of different perspectives. If you are trying to innovate solely with your daily team, you might miss out on a crucial point of view needed for a breakthrough.
When NACHC’s Center for Innovation launched the 2026 Innovation Incubator, more than 75 health centers applied to participate. The eight health centers that were selected in February are not going on the journey alone.
In the startup world, bringing in specialized external expertise is a foundational strategy for rapid problem-solving. Because the eight participating health centers are working on what could be viewed as opposing goals — revenue diversification and improving health care access — we knew that technical assistance and mentorship would be key to navigating to success.
We were thrilled to add trusted subject matter experts as a critical layer of technical support and encouragement to the program. The effort required for health centers to take part in the Incubator is no small commitment, and we both wanted and needed expertise to meet or exceed their expectations.
A group of 11 organizations and independent consultants with varied expertise agreed to participate as subject matter experts. They are volunteering their time and expertise in one-on-one meetings with health centers to help them navigate roadblocks and stay on schedule.
We are pleased to introduce our 2026 Incubator Subject Matter Experts:
- Community Link Consulting, a VMG Health Company
- Timothy Kotowski
- NACHC Mobile Health Expert: Jermaine Pope
But what does that mean for you and your health center?
Innovation doesn’t require a formal incubator — it requires intentional connection. Build a network of trusted experts who can challenge your thinking, support difficult decisions, and help uncover new opportunities. As you consider growth or new models of care, drawing on perspectives beyond your organization can accelerate progress and unlock new possibilities.
