Health Center Governance Summit @ CHI 2026
Patient-majority boards are a key innovation of health centers. Each year, hundreds of health center board members attend NACHC’s CHI where board education is a centerpiece.
NACHC is excited that the first “Health Center Governance Summit” will take place at CHI 2026. This re-imagined and expanded experience for board members – a sort of “conference within a conference” – features:
- A Pre-Conference Session on “Introduction to Health Center Board Roles” ideal for new board members
- Peer-to-Peer Networking Opportunities to learn from fellow board members across the country
- An enhanced track of education sessions focused on Health Center Governance
- A dedicated space for most Summit events so attendees can always easily find a welcoming place with their peers
Access to most Summit events is included with CHI registration. A separate registration fee is required for the pre-conference training. You can register for the conference and pre-conference training here.
New to board service—or just looking to brush up on the fundamentals? This program equips health center board members with the knowledge needed to step into their role as a board member and remain focused on the board’s governance role.
Designed with new board members in mind, this training will cover:
- health center board roles,
- the legal duties of board members,
- governance vs. management,
- the board and CEO partnership,
- fundamentals of board functioning (meetings and committees),
- the board’s role in financial and quality oversight, and
- the board’s role in advocacy.
Board members will have an opportunity to learn from board member, CEO, and subject matter expert faculty, as well as to meet fellow board members from across the country.
Peer-to-Peer Networking for Board Members
The Health Center Governance Summit @ CHI 2026 will feature a breakfast or reception for peer-to-peer networking! This informal time provides an opportunity to meet and learn from other committed volunteers who serve on health center boards throughout the United States. Check back soon for details.
